MerchantCircle, a leading business directory website, regularly surveys small business owners about different business topics. In a recent survey, MerchantCircle asked business owners to rate the most effective marketing methods. Here are the results.

Online

  1. Search marketing (such as Google Adwords campaigns or ads on the Bing/Yahoo network).
  2. Email Marketing
  3. Social Media

Print

  1. Direct Mail/Coupons
  2. Yellow Pages
  3. Newspaper Ads

The survey did not compare online advertising effectiveness to print campaigns, so at least from this survey, you can’t conclude whether direct mail or search marketing is most effective.  If your company is not already involved in these most effective types of advertising, we’re happy to help.
